The hottest summer in years: Meteorologist Jan returns from Oklahoma, where he has studied twisters up-close, after suffering a traumatic catastrophe during his dangerous research. Back in Berlin, he comes to face with his past and his ex-girlfriend Eva, who he had left behind. Immediately again he clashes with his father, head of the local weather institute, and only his blind sister Sophie still seems to trust him.
But no longer is Jan in town that an unusual cold front approaches the city. Immediately Jan recognizes the familiar warning signs of impending doom. When a thunderstorm with hailstones the size of tennis balls hits just a couple hundred kilometers away, everything in his mind points towards a coming tornado. He tries to alert the officials, but neither his father nor the local government gives credence to his theories. But a storm is closing in on the city and Jan has to act: together with Eva, he heads straight for the eye of the ronado!
Narrowly escaping death, he sees his greatest fears confirmed. Among the millions of citizens of the capital city, his friends and family are all in grave peril. When another tornado is forming right above the city, Jan frantically tries to alert the metropolis of the immediate danger… but it is almost too late: the city is caught unaware by a massive whirlwind and Sophie is stuck helplessly high on top of the soaring TV Tower!
As the tornado devastates Berlin and its world-famous landmarks, a dramatic rescue attempt unfolds as Jan tries to save the people he loves so dearly, even if it means sacrificing his own life…
